Stocks staged an impressive rally off the morning lows as of midday on Wednesday, with the Dow, Nasdaq and S&P 500 hovering near unchanged levels halfway through trading.
Among those stocks moving higher today are financial sector names such as National City Corporation (NCC | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating), up more than 39%, and Ambac Inc. (ABK | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating), up more than 27%. Also higher in the financial realm were Citigroup (C | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating), ahead by nearly 11% and Bank of America (BAC | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating), which was up more than 9% as of midday.
Solar stocks were also moving higher, including shares of First Solar (FSLR | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating), gaining more than 6% midway through Wednesday's trading.
