  • Shares of Chipotle Mexican Grill (CMG | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) fell by more than 20% in trading on Friday after providing lower third quarter guidance.

  • Also dramatically lower in the wake of a lowered earnings forecast was building materials maker, Cemex (CX | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating), which lost more than 7% on the day.

  • Goldman Sachs (GS | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) reports earnings on Tuesday before the bell. Analysts are expecting EPS of $1.78.

  • Reflecting the recovering in basic materials stocks, shares of Alcoa (AA | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) were higher by more than 3% on Friday. Alcoa was the best performing stock in the Dow industrials.

  • And reflecting the continued weakness in the financial sector, traders aggressively sold shares of American International Group (AIG | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating), which was down a whopping 30%+ on the day.

  • Bank of America (BAC | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) is widely rumored to be at the head of the pack of potential acquirers of Merrill Lynch & Co. (MER | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating).
